END-TO-END APPLICATION
Developing and designing and app as new solution to hyper-connectivity

PROJECT OVERVIEW
What if you could control the digital floodgates without building dams? We believed the answer to hyper-connectivity wasn’t restriction, but empowerment. Join me as I walk you through the design process for NoizCut, an app born from the need felt by Gen Z and Millennials to connect intentionally, not constantly. This case study walks through the 2 weeks process of building NoizCut from ground up.

CHALLENGE
The core challenge NoizCut addresses is the pervasive issue of digital overload and fragmented attention among Gen Z and Millennials. Users are constantly interrupted by notifications, engage in mindless scrolling, and feel mentally exhausted by the sheer volume of digital information. They expressed a strong desire to regain control over their digital lives and connect more mindfully.
RESEARCH
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
To understand the digital well-being landscape, we analyzed apps like Opal, ScreenZen, and Beeper. We observed a common trend: most solutions focused on blocking or delaying access, or simply centralizing platforms without addressing content overload. This presented a clear opportunity: to build a tool that doesn't just limit usage, but empowers users to engage more intentionally by filtering the noise.

KEY INSIGHTS
USER INTERVIEWS
We conducted interviews focused on four key areas: Fear of missing out, fragmented attention/information overload, social comparison, and work-life balance. These revealed three top insights:
Digital Distractions Harm Focus and Productivity
Users feel Anger, Frustration and Overwhelmed
Desire for Healthier, More Conscious Phone Use
USER PERSONA
To better understand the target audience, and characteristics of the users, we created a user persona, that would guide our design process. Marta became the face of our design decisions. Her needs helped us focus on curation over restriction, visibility over shame, and control over chaos. We designed Noizcut to help users like her reconnect with intention — without having to disconnect from everything else.
Pain points:
-
She feels anxious when disconnected from social media or her smartphone.
-
She spends more time in the phone than she would like to.
-
Constant digital noise leaves her drained and unable to focus.
"She wants to stay inspired and connected, but ends up feeling drained and scattered."

Marta, 28
Marta is a millennial graphic designer, who uses social media a lot for her work. She is often looking for inspiration on Instagram and social media. She likes to keep up with the news, but gets easily overwhelmed.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Gen Z and Millennials needs a way to reduce digital distractions and increase their focus because constant interruptions and mindless scrolling, make them feel frustrated, unproductive, and emotionally drained.
IDEATION
Digital Distractions Harm Focus and Productivity
Users are overwhelmed by constant notifications and content switching.
Armed with insights from our research, we moved into ideation with a clear objective: to design a product that effectively reduces digital noise and fosters user focus, without resorting to complete disconnection. We distilled key pain points into core design opportunities:
Complete app blocking feels too rigid and anxiety-inducing.
Individuals seek balance, not total digital abstinence.
This foundation guided our brainstorming, utilizing techniques like Crazy 8s and mind mapping. We explored diverse concepts, including context-aware blocking, micro-goal systems, and the idea of a unified content space where users could engage intentionally, rather than being passively drawn in.
MIDFI WIREFRAMES
Digital Distractions Harm Focus and Productivity
Filtered Social Feed: You choose your top 15 accounts across platforms—no algorithms, just your intentional picks.
Curated News Feed: Get news tailored precisely to your preferences, free from information overload.
Our concept crystalized into a powerful value proposition: NoizCut empowers you to combat hyper-connectivity and boost productivity as your personal digital filter and a unified hub for content and social apps.
We envisioned a single digital space where users truly controlled their attention. This led to defining NoizCut's core functionalities:
Integrated Chats: All your conversations, brought together into one focused place.
Behavior Metrics: Gain clear insights into your screen time and app usage.

USABILITY TESTING

With our Mid-Fi wireframes complete, we conducted usability testing to confirm NoizCut’s value proposition and usability. The insights were pivotal for refinement, revealing recurring themes across four key areas:
-
Core Value: Users strongly embraced the app's effective content filtering.
-
Homepage: A need for more previews and key stats to improve information visibility.
-
Unified Feeds: Crucial demand for clear visual distinctions between platform content.
-
Enhancements: Users desired more customization and interaction options (sorting, tags, reactions).
-
Clarity: The app's primary "filtering" purpose needed to be consistently clear across all features.
BRANDING
For NoizCut’s branding we wanted to reflect its core values of simplicity, clarity, and modernizm. Our color palette — modern sky, sand, and stone — creates a calm sense, while our secondary color, a deep blue, enhances focus. We’ve also designed intuitive graphical elements to ensure a seamless user experience. Every detail supports the mission of helping users stay focused.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Let’s explore the NoizCut prototype — designed to cut through digital noise by empowering users with conscious choices rather than rigid restrictions. The home-screen uses intentional whitespace and bold typography to reduce mental clutter and guide focus.
Onboarding is streamlined: users connect key social apps, centralize messaging, and personalize their news intake. Optional features like usage goals and screen time tracking unlock tailored behavioral insights.
This wasn’t just a UI cleanup — it was a rethink of how users engage with information. By prioritizing clarity and control, we turned a functional tool into a trusted partner. The result? A more human interface that builds trust, improves usability, and strengthens product relevance in a noisy market.
